Thermal conductivity of polycrystalline thoria and thoria--urania solid solutions (LWBR Development Program)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6734545

An empirical correlation, using least-squares techniques, was made of the variation of thermal conductivity for thoria-urania fuels with temperature, composition, porosity, microstructure, cracks, and fission depletion. Thermal conductivities of unirradiated ThO and ThO/sub 2/-UO/sub 2/ were calculated from measurements of thermal diffusivity, enthalpy, and expansivity. The standard deviation of the residuals served as a criterion of the success of a particular mathematical model in fitting the data. (NSA 27: 15143)
