Various types of defects in the insulation of shielded high voltage power cables give rise to partial discharges under electrical stress. A capability to accurately locate partial discharge (PD) sites non-destructively and in situ is obviously highly desirable. This paper describes digital signal processing techniques designed to yield accurate site location estimates from the stored measurement data.
