The tungsten trioxides and their alkali-metal-intercalated products M{sub x}WO{sub 3+{delta}} have attracted considerable attention over the years because of the variety of crystalline structures they can take up and their electrochemical and electronic properties, which make them attractive as active electrodes in electrochromic displays and as catalysts. Here, the authors report the synthesis and characterization of two novel sodium tungstates with the cubic pyrochlore and a hexagonal structure.
