Laser based method for forming a superconducting oxide layer on various substrates

This patent describes the method for forming a superconducting ceramic layer on a substrate. It comprises: applying a layer of dry salts to the surface of the substrate wherein the dry salts contain bismuth, calcium, strontium and copper in a 1:1:1:2 atomic ratio; heating the substrate by passing the surface through the path of a laser beam; producing reactive species from the salts at the surface of the substrate through the energy of the laser beam which causes the reactive species to react with the surface substrate.
