Type curves for analysis of afterflow-dominated gas well buildup data. [McKinley Curve]

Conference · · Soc. Pet. Eng. AIME, Pap.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6728717
y set of type curves has been developed that permits estimation of near-well bore damage or stimulation from the afterflow-dominated portion of a pressure buildup test in a gas well. While similar to McKinley's curves for oil wells, these type curves take into account the variation of gas properties with pressure. Use of these curves gives an improved estimate of damage or stimulation, although for rough estimates, McKinley's type curve for oil wells were found to be adequate. This study describes the type curve development, provides instructions on their use, and demonstrates, with computed and field pressure buildup data, the usefulness of these curves for gas wells.
