This patent describes a method for permeability control of a subterranean formation and for enhancing oil recovery from the subterranean formation. It comprises: injecting into the subterranean formation an aqueous solution comprised of a linear block copolymer having the structural form of ABA triblock or (AB){sub {ital n}} multiblock wherein A is a petrophilic polymer segment capable of being adsorbed on the surface of rock, B is a polymer segment inert to rock and n is a number of at least 2.
