The Solar Energy installation at Anheuser-Busch's Jacksonville, Florida plant is the first of its kind in the brewing industry. Solar heated water is being used for the pasteurization of bottled beer. The solar system includes a 4600 ft/sup 2/, array of Sunpak collectors developed by Owens-Illinois, Inc. of Toledo, Ohio. The collectors are coupled to the Thermelt, a high technology thermal storage system developed by the Barry-Wehmiller Co. The solar energy supplies the heat required to maintain 500 gal of water per min at 146/sup 0/F.
