Sea Robin's Erath compressor station goes on stream

Journal Article · · Diesel Gas Turbine Prog.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6728143
The Erath station is the onshore terminal of the Sea Robin system which gathers natural gas and condensate from offshore production through 2 lateral pipelines: a 26-in., 24-in., and 20-in. E. leg and a 30-in. and 24-in. W. leg. These laterals converge in an offshore compressor station in Louisiana's Vermilion blocks 148 and 149. In this location, the condensate is separated from the gas stream. After the gas is compressed to approx. 1,200 psi, it flows to shore through 65 miles of 36-in. main line to a Texaco processing plant. After processing, the gas continues through an additional mile of 36-in. main line to the Erath compressor station. The 32,400-hp compressor station utilizes 3 Cooper-Bessemer 16-cylinder Model Z330, 2-cycle, turbocharged, integral reciprocating gas engine compressor units, site rated 10,800 hp each at 330 rpm. The compressor station and the equipment are described in detail. A line drawing of the compressor station shows the location of major components of the station.
