Title: Extraordinary Hall effect in YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7-//sub delta/ superconductors

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)

The paramagneticlike T/sup -1/ temperature dependence of the Hall coefficient R/sub H/ and the linear-T resistivity rho are shown to be obeyed in the oxygen-deficient metallic phases of the YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7-//sub delta/ superconductor at elevated temperatures, a region of oxygen stoichiometry 0.03approx. <0.6, as revealed by a universal R/sub H/T vs rho/T dependence. The similarly temperature-scaled Hall angle increases upon oxygen desorption and has a maximum near deltaapprox. =0.2. These results suggest that asymmetric magnetic scattering may contribute significantly to the Hall effect in YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7/.
