A new method is proposed for studying effects of the additional Z' bosons predicted by E/sub 6/ theories of grand unification in the process e/sup +/ e/sup -/ ..-->..l/sup +/ l/sup -/ at energies below the threshold for production of the standard Z boson. It is shown that at energies of the initial e/sup +/ e/sup -/ beams in the range (s)/sup 1/2/ approx.50--60 GeV the cross section for the process in the case of comparatively light Z' bosons (M/sub Z//sub '/ approx. <2M/sub Z/ ) can have an interference dip (absent in the standard model), whose depth and energy coordinates depend on the parameters of the Z' boson. Such information about the Z' boson can be obtained by using the high-luminosity facility TRISTAN.
