BWR availability improvements: programs and progress

At the 1976 American Power Conference General Electric reported on its boiling water reactor (BWR) operating experience in 1975, and described positive programs planned to help utilities improve BWR availability by reducing forced outage rates and the length of refueling and maintenance outages. This paper discusses the results of General Electric's efforts in the past 12 months, and some of its plans for the near future. The remainder of this paper discusses progress made with the Advance Maintenance Planning Serivce (AMPS), as well as other programs that have been in place or recently initiated.
