Gas/solid contact method for removing sulfur oxides from gases
This patent describes a process for removing oxides of sulfur from a waste gas. It comprises one or more oxides of sulfur and substantially all of the carbon is as carbon dioxide made by continuously passing a stream of the waste gas into concurrent contact with fluidizable particle of a regenerable sulfur oxide adsorbent; immediately separating the gas from absorbent particles now laden with oxides of sulfur at the outlet of the riser in a high efficiency separator; continuously passing the separated fluidizable particles of adsorbent into a regeneration zone; continuously separating the gas comprising hydrogen sulfide from the hot fluidizable particles of absorbent now depleted of sulfur.
