Simple transient analysis of the THORS bundle 6A boiling test results. [LMFBR]

A simple one-dimensional boiling model has been developed to investigate the effect of bundle insulation degradation on the results of boiling stability tests conducted in the Thermal Hydraulic Out-of-Reactor Safety (THORS) Facility at ORNL. Significant periods (20 to 90s) of stable boiling without dryout were observed during a series of flow coastdown initiated boiling tests of a 19-pin simulated LMFBR fuel subassembly at power levels of 1.0 to 5.2 kW/ft.
