LiClO{sub 4}-3.5 NH{sub 3} ammoniate was tested as electrolyte for lithium-metal intercalation compound batteries. The results obtained prove that LiClO{sub 4}-3.5 NH{sub 3} is a good electrolyte for primary lithium batteries since the electrochemical behavior of some metal oxides (MoO{sub 3},MnO{sub 2},Cr{sub 2}O{sub 5},{hor ellipsis}) is the same as the one already reported in organic solvents. The use of LiClO{sub 4}-3.5 NH{sub 3} as electrolyte in secondary batteries is limited because of the ammonia oxidation.
