Response of a multi-element dosimeter to calibrated beta sources with E/sub max/ from 0. 23 to 3. 5 MeV

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6714825
The responses of several different dosimeter absorber systems were studied to determine their usefulness in beta radiation fields. Exposures to several different beta emitters were conducted at the PNL Calibrations Laboratory. The sources used are: /sup 147/Pm, /sup 85/Kr, U(nat), /sup 90/Sr-/sup 90/Y, and /sup 106/Ru-/sup 106/Rh. The maximum energy of these beta emitters varies from 0.23 to 3.5 MeV. The beta sources are calibrated for absorbed dose to tissue at a depth of 0.007 cm. Measurements of response for 4, 5, and 7 element versions of the dosimeter were made. All data reported were obtained from sets of three TLDs exposed under each absorber and for each of the radiation sources.
