High-pressure sodium (HPS) lamps (Lumalux) have reduced electric costs for National Semiconductor Corp. The installation consists of 250-watt lamps (1000) placed the company's manufacturing areas. And 450-watt lamps (500) were installed as an indirect lighting arrangement in the office areas. The system will save approximately $70,000 annually in the cost of electricity for both lighting and air conditioning.
