Competition has put the energy buyer in control

Journal Article · · Energy User News; (United States)
OSTI ID:6712066
The author foresees oil companies competing with gas and coal for buyers, who will have ample fuel supplies from which to choose. He also sees conservation as a major competitor. This places a marketing burden on energy companies to produce demand, and will require major changes in the way fuel is sold. Users will seek the lowest cost supplier, which helped to restructure the gas industry even before natural gas deregulation got underway. With the buyer in control, successful companies will orient their marketing techniques to ensure a good, low-cost, effectively delivered product.
