Title: Basic data for the hydrogenation of various raw materials to diesel oil and gasoline in a bituminous coal hydrogenation plant

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6711262

This report consisted of a table containing data on the possible production of a plant for the hydrogenation of young bituminous coal to gasoline after conversion to diesel oil and gasoline (ratio about 1:1) and on various raw materials. The figures in the table were all roughly estimated. The raw materials used in this report were: bituminous coal, 83% C; bituminous coal, 87% C; brown coal; bituminous coal extract; pitch, 75/sup 0/ endpoint, from bituminous coal; cracking residue from crude oil; pitch, 75/sup 0/ endpoint, from cracking residue; petroleum residue with specific gravity = 0.960; and pitch from petroleum. The basis for comparison for percent production was bituminous coal, 83% C, having 100% gasoline production. Conversion to diesel oil and gasoline showed the following production percents: (1) bituminous coal, 83% C, 110%; (2) bituminous coal, 87% C, 110%; (3) brown coal, 110%; (4) bituminous coal extract, 130%; (5) pitch, 75/sup 0/ endpoint, from bituminous coal, 145%; (6) cracking residue from crude oil, 290%; (7) pitch from cracking residue, 203%; (8) petroleum residue, 400%; and (9) pitch from petroleum, 245%.
