Recent Swedish technical advancements and gas and oil developments are surveyed, including a Pakistan order for a prefabricated 1000-1750 ton/day ammonia/urea plant from Swedyards Development Corp.; Salen Energy's model tests on a new wave energy system; an amphibious catamaran oil spill cleanup vessel, developed by Ingenjoersfirma Goeran Ehnstroem, which can be deployed in shallow water, on ice, and on land; an airborne system for locating oil slicks at sea and identifying the culprit, developed by the Swedish Space Corp. and the Swedish Coast Guard Service; Trelleborg's Nordan Terminal, a new oil spill boom specially designed to guard against oil spills in harbors and oil terminals and which comprises an airtight hose made of an oil-resistant compound reinforced with polyester fabric; and a highly automated oil purifying plant mounted on a 51 m long barge devised and built by Oresundsvarvet Shipyard.
