The present conference on passive IR systems discusses developments in the Netherlands, passive IR systems' applications, IR component materials and configurations, and IR radiometry. Attention is given to high power pulsed gas lasers, a low cost 3-5 micron thermal imager, pyroelectric vidicons, source size-invariant signal processing, the prediction of temperature differences in background scenery, multiwavelength optical pyrometry, and thermal imaging with uncooled pyroelectric IR detectors. Also discussed are aircraft detectability measurement simulations, magnification measurements for IR telescopes, optimized diamondlike coatings for IR windows, and a hemispherical directional ellipsoidal IR spectroreflectometer.
