The CT appearance of conjoined nerve roots in 5 patients is described, together with the similarity to a herniated nucleus pulposus and differentiation between the two using the ''blink mode.'' Patients should not have pain secondary to this anatomical variant, which may help distinguish it from a herniated disk clinically unless they occur at the same level.
