A practical handbook for the correction of radio interference from overhead power lines and facilities
This handbook is concerned with corona interference and arcing interference. Most power line RI complaints result from the operation of distribution and low voltage transmission lines. However, a number of complaints are received as a result of EHV line operation in foul weather. One objective of this handbook is to describe methods of correction for foul weather EHV radio interference in the AM broadcast band, particularly by the use of improved receiving antennas. The AM broadcast band has been selected for this study because it is here most radio interference complaints are received. RI is generally thought of as interference to this broadcast band. The methods detailed for correcting RI problems can generally be applied to other radio frequencies in the medium frequency band (0.3 to 30 MHz) as well. Practical means are available to locate the various RI sources. Efficient locating instruments and methods are described in this handbook.
