  1. TransCanada PipeLines Ltd., Calgary (Canada)
TransCanada PipeLines Ltd., Calgary, has installed scheduling and maintenance software that has reduced maintenance costs by $40,000-100,000 (Can.)/day and reduced unscheduled downtime. The applications enable TCPL better to manage both maintenance scheduling and resources required to keep pipelines running smoothly. The applications are part of an information systems initiative called Information Technology Next Generation (ITNG). The impetus behind ITNG was the deregulation of the pipeline industry in 1995. The paper describes incentives, objectives and design, scheduling, maintenance, compressor wheel assemblies, and ITNG results.
