As part of an ongoing effort to understand the properties of binaries in globulars, the first spectrum of an old nova in a globular cluster has been obtained. H-alpha emission confirms the presence of the quiescent nova within 1 arcsec of the optical candidate proposed by Shara et al (1986). The Shara et al. candidate is clearly seen to be multiple. The first outburst spectrum of the candidate dwarf nova V4 in M30 has also been obtained. The extremely blue continuum and strong Balmer absorption are typical of an outbursting dwarf nova (DN), and support Margon and Downes' (1983) DN classification (based on a spectrum of V4 in quiescence). 15 refs.
