The 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments, in requiring the States to reduce air pollution, resulted in new regulations on gasoline composition, on automobile emissions and mandates on the use of alternative fuels. The 1992 Energy Policy Act includes provisions aiming to reduce energy dependence by increasing the use of alternative, non-oil fuels in certain vehicle fleets. This hearing focus on where development of alternative fuels stands today. Testimony is presented by the following: T. Jorling, NY State Dept. of Environmental Conservation; R.L.
