Contribution of mobile sources to ambient particulate concentrations in a downtown urban area

Journal Article · · J. Air Pollut. Control Assoc.; (United States)

The contribution of automobile emissions to total suspended particulate (TSP) levels in the ambient atmosphere of Pittsburgh was studied. Analyzed were TSP levels, carbon monoxide concentrations, and haze occurrences at monitoring sites throughout the city. Diurnal and weekday-weekend changes in pollution levels suggest that vehicular traffic is a major source of TSP.
