Self contained bearings and their lubrication

Book ·
OSTI ID:6690295
The ability of the designer to incorporate bearings in machinery which do not require an external lubrication system may have considerable advantages. A wide range of lubricated self contained bearings already find use in many different industrial situations. Continued effort is required to extend the range of load and speed conditions which can be accommodated satisfactorily whilst still ensuring adequate performance and life. This book is based on an Institution of Mechanical Engineers seminar. It discusses developments in the design and use of lubricated self contained bearings covering impregnated porous metal bearings, rolling element bearings and hydrodynamic liquid film bearings.
