Dual-frequency correlation of pulsar micropulses

Journal Article · · Sov. Astron. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:6690211
Observations of PSR 0809 + 74 and PSR 1133 + 16, obtained at 101 and 102.5 MHz (simultaneously) with time resolution about 10 microsec using the DKR-1000 radio telescope at Pushchino Radio Astronomy Station during June 1981, are reported. The data for a total of 172 subpulses are analyzed statistically, and strong interfrequency correlations are found for microstructures with time scales greater than about 300 microsec; shorter-scale microstructures are uncorrelated. A modified hollow-cone pulsar model with clouds of elementary emission clumps is proposed to account for these findings. 10 references.
