Electroweak model with dynamical symmetry breaking by color sextet quark condensates
An alternative to spontaneous electroweak symmetry breaking in the standard Weinberg-Salam model is presented. Theoretical and phenomenological implications of two new flavors of color sextet quarks forming condensates, which induce dynamical breaking of the electroweak symmetry, are investigated. The correct W/sup +/-/ and Z/sup 0/ vector boson masses are achieved in the dynamical symmetry breaking scheme because the mass scale at which the color sextets condense occurs at a value exponentially greater than the condensation scale of the color triplet quarks. To maintain a renormalizable theory, two new families of leptons are also introduced. To help clarify the issue of light fermion (e.g. lepton and color triplet quark) dynamical mass generation, he also studies a simple SU(4) x (SU(2) x U(1)) model. Mass relations between leptons and quarks are calculated and are found to be consistent with similar calculations by other investigators. The bound state spectrum due to the presence of sextet quarks is also studied. The author concludes by studying the phenomenology of anomalous lepton-loop interactions associated with nu(anti-nu)..gamma.. production in e/sup +/e/sup -/ colliders. The author finds that the new effects have negligible impact on cross sections used in counting the number of neutrino species.
