Multirobot systems

In recent years, there has been an ever increasing interest in the development and application of coordinated multiple-robot systems. Although researchers are still attempting to identify the fundamental issues related to the design and operation of such systems, some important issues have been investigated by several researchers. The focus of most of the reported research work in this area is primarily on two topics: the coordination of multiple robots (manipulators) with a common workspace and control strategies in coordinated multiple-robot systems. This text emphasizes these two topics. In addition, the authors deal with the AI-based operations and control techniques for multiple-robot systems and the communications issues in multirobot systems.
