Petroleum recovery with inert gases

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6685313
This is a method of petroleum recovery in which nitrogen is injected as a gas cap drive concurrently with the injection of carbon dioxide into the oil zone as a miscible displacement drive. The injection well is cased and perforations of nitrogen injection are made at the upper region of the reservoir. Substantially pure carbon dioxide is injected through these perforations one or more production wells are suitably spaced from the injection well for recovery of the oil displaced from the reservoir. Ferrosoferric oxide and nitrogen gas. The ferric oxide is reacted with a gaseous hydrocarbon to produce carbon dioxide and ferrosoferric oxide. (1 claim)
