General expressions for the surface tension and bulk pressure are derived for a semiclassical polyatomic fluid. The Fowler-Kirkwood-Buff approximation is used to reduce the general surface tension formula to a simple form and to show that the dipole-dipole interactions account for about one-half of the surface tension of low vapor pressure water.
