Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6673414
This is a summary of the Eugene-Springfield Solar Report, an in-depth study of the potential for using solar energy on existing residential and commercial structures in the two cities. The study found that solar energy could displace a significant amount of electricity in Eugene and Springfield. It also contains recommendations to the City Councils on ways for protecting the solar access to existing buildings. In brief, the study found that approximately 22% of all residential energy needs in the Eugene-Springfield area could be provided by solar energy. This represents 23% of all space heating, 33% of all water heating, and 13% of all lights and electric appliance energy used in residences.
