Calculated photoneutron and neutron capture cross sections for some europium and gadolinium isotopes

Knowledge of the production of long-lived species such as [sup 150]Eu (t[sub 1/2] = 36 yr) and [sup 152]Eu (t[sub 1/2] = 13 yr) via neutron activation, as well as their subsequent destruction by neutrons and photons, is necessary in many nuclear energy development applications, such as fusion reactor first-wall and blanket materials, radioactive waste management, etc. We are developing complete sets of excitation functions for the neutron-induced reactions on the isotopes of europium (mass 145 to 154) and of gadolinium (mass 150 to 156).
