Research report:A study conducted to measure the long-term differences in the concentrations of vanadium, manganese, lead, and total suspended particulates at near street level and elevated sites in New York City is described. Weekly composite air samples were collected continuously at a rooftop site from 1968-70 and 1972-78, and at a first floor level site from 1976-78. Results indicate that vanadium, manganese, lead, and total suspended particulate concentrations decreased in the ambient concentration during the entire study. Vanadium levels were the same at both levels. Lead, manganese, and total suspended particulate concentrations were slightly higher at the first floor level. (5 graphs, 16 references, 1 table)
