A report on stripper well operations in the United States for 1983 is presented. For that year, abandonments of wells were up for the fourth consecutive year. In 1983, 11,032 stripper wells reached terminal status, up 17% from 1982. There was, however, an increase in oil production from stripper wells (wells that average less than 10 barrels/day). The report shows that there were 441,501 stripper wells in operation as of January 1, 1984, and during the 1983 calender well, 462,013,486 barrels of stripper oil produced.
