This is a subsurface valve apparatus to control flow of fluids in the well bore. The valve apparatus is adapted to be opened to create a high pressure differential which will cause a sudden high velocity flow of the formation fluid through the pipe perforations and into the well bore, thereby carrying sand, silt, and the like, into the pipe for movement to the top of the hole. The sudden opening of the flap valve induces flow of formation fluids into the well bore. The apparatus has a full unrestricted passage so that opening of the valve provides a high production rate of fluid flow into the well bore. The valve apparatus can also be used as a formation testing valve, or a testing valve for determining the efficiency of a water shut-off or similar casing cementing job. (18 claims)
