Expert systems - Worth the effort

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6669249
The research objectives are to build a capability in ES technology while concurrently turning out profitable applications. The authors view this to be at least a five-year effort. They have learned that the real value in this work is getting knowledge in a form that is useful; a form that can be both stored and shared, and perhaps more importantly, updated. They have discovered that the hard work is in the knowledge acquisition and representation. They recognize the gold mine is the expertise - not the tool. The gold has always been there. But now they have a way to get to it.
