Precise SU(5) predictions for sin/sup 2/theta/sub W/ /sup exp/, m/sub W/, and m/sub Z/
Radiative corrections to v-induced neutral-current scattering are computed for an arbitrary grand unified theory Gcontains(SU(3))/sub c/x(SU(2))/sub L/xU(1). Applying to the Georgi-Glashow SU(5) model with a single superheavy mass leads, for ..lambda../sub M/S (the mass scale of quantum chromodynamics)=0.4 GeV, to the precise predictions sin/sup 2/theta/sub W/ /sup(..mu..;l)(0)=0.2104 for ..nu../sub ..mu../-lepton scattering at q/sup 2/=0 and sin/sup 2/theta/sub W/ /sup( nu;h/)(-20 GeV/sup 2/)=0.2098 for deep-inelastic ..nu..-hadron scattering. This result, together with our previous radiative corrections to m/sub W/ sintheta/sub W/ gives the SU(5) predictions m/sub W/=84.36 GeV and m/sub Z/=94.91 GeV.
