The discovery of the Las Tiendas field has caused many companies to take another look at shallow possibilities in S. Texas. This field, located 29 miles northwest of Laredo in a remote area of Webb County, Texas, was discovered by the Hughes and Hughes No. 1 Beasley-Connevey well drilled in July of 1967. The field has developed into a large multipay gas structure having approx. 8,000 productive acres. There are presently 29 producing gas completions and the average production is 20 MMcfd. The gas pays range in depth from 2,000 to 3,600 ft and are all dry gas being 98 to 99% methane. A pipeline connection was obtained in April 1968 with Houston Natural Gas and since that date, the cumulative production from the field has been slightly over 11 billion cu ft of gas.
