Application of computer assisted data trending and problem assessment techniques to power plant chemistry control

Conference · · Proc. Am. Power Conf.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6660864
Installation and demonstration of a data trending and analysis system at Duke Power Company's Catawba Nuclear Power Station was funded by the Electric Power Research Institute. The analysis system data acquisition module was direct connected to the Catawba Unit 1 secondary cycle process instrumentation. The readings from these instruments were monitored and stored by scanning the process instrument outputs at ten minute intervals. Hourly power level, laboratory chemistry data and steam generator blowdown flow were manually entered and stored on a daily basis. The data analysis subsystem consists of a computer, flexible disk and hard disk storage, display, plotter and printer. Plant chemistry data stored on the hard disk can be updated and analyzed on demand.
