Decomposition of organic substances by ionizing radiations

Conference · · Prepr., Div. Pet. Chem., Am. Chem. Soc.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6660735
This brief review summarizes and discusses the mechanism of decomposition reactions produced by ionizing radiation, usually electrons up to 1 MeV or /sup 60/Co ..gamma.. rays 1.1 and 1.3 MeV. Hexane, 1-hexene, ethanol, diethyl ether, and acetone are considered as examples of alkanes, alkenes, and organic oxygen compounds; product yields are tabulated. (DLC)
