The use of the climatic water budget in irrigation scheduling: Iowa. Report No. 2

Scheduling the correct amount of supplemental irrigation is a problem facing all irrigators. While various techniques have been developed to permit calculation of time and amount of irrigation needs, most are so complex or require so many data that they cannot be evaluated by the individual farmer or irrigation operator. A simplified irrigation scheduling procedure using average information on the climatic demand for water (evapotranspiration) and the precipitation as measured at the particular irrigation site is described.
