Deactivation of the ground-launched cruise-missile training system, 868 Tactical Missile Training Group. Student report
The 868 Tactical Missile Training Group was activated to conduct field and operations training for the Ground Launched Cruise Missile (GLCM) weapon system. If/when the Intermediate-range and Shorter Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty between the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics is ratified, this mission will no longer be required. This study addresses issues that Tactical Air Command must take into consideration regarding the reassignment, reallocation, utilization, and/or destruction of surplus training equipment. The study makes recommendations in areas of critical and non-critical vehicle uses, assignment suggestions for unit personnel and reallocation of weapons, buildings, and surplus training equipment.
