A lattice Boltzmann model for multicomponent fluid flows is used to simulate the two-dimensional Rayleigh-Taylor instability. The dynamical processes of the instability, varying from linear growth to mixing, have been simulated. The results agree with experiments, analytical studies, and other numerical simulations. {copyright} {ital 1998} {ital The American Physical Society}
