Regulated and unregulated exhaust emissions from malfunctioning three-way catalyst gasoline automobiles. Final report Aug 77-Sep 79

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6646442
This report describes the laboratory effort to characterize regulated and unregulated exhaust emissions from three-way catalyst-equipped gasoline automobiles operating under malfunction conditions. Three automobiles were evaluated over three driving schedules in the unmodified configuration and in four engine and/or emission control system malfunction configurations. Exhaust emission constituents measured, in addition to the currently regulated emissions, include: particulate, sulfates, aldehydes, sulfides, amines, metals, and several additional elements and compounds. Additional evaluations, in each of the configurations, involved the measurement of regulated emissions over four short-cycle procedures.
