Energy situation in the Asian-Pacific region and international cooperation

Journal Article · · J. Energy Dev.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6640752

The Asian-Pacific nations differ in the nature of their energy supply and demand situations. A comparison of energy production and consumption data for East and Southeast Asia, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, and China also makes comparisons of the total Asian-Pacific and total world situation. Regional cooperation, using bilateral or multilateral long-term oil supply/purchase agreements, could allow security for both importers and exporters, but further promotion of nonoil energy sources and the introduction of energy alternatives into developing countries could ease the energy balance. Other aid from developed countries could include technical training and an energy data bank. 4 tables.
