It is the objective of these symposia to stimulate research and provide a forum for the exchange of new information and ideas on the management of hazardous and industrial waste. The Alexandria symposium was no exception and, in fact, provided some of the most relevant work to have been exchanged in an international forum in many years. The papers selected for publication covered seven different subject areas: (1) contaminant and leaching assessments, (2) ground water and contaminant migration assessments, (3) incineration of hazardous waste, (4) linear assessments, (5) site monitoring and assessments, (6) waste testing, and (7) waste treatment alternatives.
