Photoproduction of charmed particles on valence gluons

If valence gluons are present in hadrons, their contribution to the cross section for photoproduction of charmed-quark cc-bar pairs can be calculated with allowance for the effects of confinement (using the wave function of these gluons in the quark-bag model). The energy and angular distributions of hadron jets in the process ..gamma..+N..-->..c+c-bar+X, where X is the undetected set of hadrons, are determined. The various distributions of produced particles in the region of large photon energies are studied. A fundamental qualitative result is the prediction of oscillations of the cross section for photoproduction of cc-bar pairs, regarded as a function of their transverse momentum.
