Refrigeration cost impact on large liquefied-gas storage

Conference · · Trans. Am. Assoc. Cost Eng.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6633721
The development of refrigerated storage facilities for liquefied gas is discussed. An attempt was made to point out the reasons for this development with emphasis on the advantages of this type of storage. The main characteristics of the gases to be liquefied are presented. The impact of refrigeration on storage capacity is discussed and the principal technical parameters influencing investment and operating costs are described. Refrigerated storage is no longer a debatable question; it becomes imperative for large storage capacity, exceeding 15 to 20,000 m/sup 3/.
